Bagels & bass, at the Kids’ Fishing Derby!

Hey, kids, it’s time to go fishing again! This year’s Fishing Derby will be held on Sunday, June 9th at the Baby Lake. Sign-ups will begin at 10:30 am, and the one-hour derby will go from 11 to 12. All children under 13 are welcome, and, yea, the rainbow fish floating above is right: there will be prizes for all kids who take part.

Bring your own fishing pole. Worms and snacks will be provided.

The derby is again being organized by Aileen McDonald, and she’s looking for volunteers to bring brunch munchies. To volunteer, or if you have questions, email her at awol30@me.com.

In Lake Lucille, the fishing derby, of course, has been a rite of summer for the past several decades. And it’s a win-win. When a kid pulls a sunny or bass out of the baby lake, an ear-to-ear smile usually comes with it—for both child and grown-ups.
